Adobe Premiere Course Overview

The course, in totality, seeks to cover the following points:

  • Configuration Settings
  • Use of Interface
  • Fundamentals (ie. Importing Clips, moving stuff around)
  • Capturing Clips from Video Camera
  • Exporting edited clips as video file

  • Use of Tools for Timeline
  • Cutting Up Video (& adjusting speeds/durations)
  • Manipulating Sounds

  • Use of Opacity/Volume Handlers
  • Use of Effects Controls to manipulate entire clips
  • Adjusting Video properties (eg. color, brightness)
  • Use of Transitions
  • Use of Special Effects (eg. Chroma Keying)

  • Use of Adobe Title Designer
  • Adding Titles to Video
  • Adding Universal Counter, Black & Color Bars
  • Due to insufficient time, the effects will only be covered briefly and students are encouraged to explore other special effects themselves. Fine-tuning for chrmoa keying will not be taught completely as it would erode incentive for students to explore the software themselves. In addition, title design will be kept concise, so students with Adobe Photoshop experience may be able to create better titles but others should also seek to explore the different combination of text effects to achieve the results they desire.

General advice for participants of this course is to explore the software as best as possible, playing around with the different effects once you understand the fundamentals such as cutting clips, adjusting timing, after knowing how to read the time codes, or shrinking and expanding the timeline. Those basics will suffice to help you navigate around the entire software.
